Day Camp

At Solebury School Day Camp, we keep our campers busy with a variety of activities that build their confidence, help them learn and grow, and keep them smiling! Our staff loves spending the summer with children, and we are dedicated to making each day a time to remember and cherish. Our small size offers children the attention we feel they need, and our flexibility and extra services benefit today's parents.

Watch us in action to see how we spend our days...

Small Size

Campers are divided by age with a target group size of 14-18 campers. We keep a camper to staff ratio of 4 to 1 to ensure that your child will be in a place where they are known, understood and safe.

Activities

Campers participate in various activities each day on our beautiful, 140-acre campus. Every year we strive to provide activities based on camper preference. Some activities might include:

Swimming: Campers swim daily in Solebury's solar-heated outdoor pool. Like everything else at Solebury, this activity is a combination of instruction (from basic swimming to junior lifesaving) and play (free swim, pool games, and diving). The pool is always staffed by certified lifeguards.

Sports: Sports: We believe children should be allowed to be children and that sports should be fun! Some instruction in such sports as soccer, wiffleball, and basketball will be combined with games new and old.  Some examples of this are Capture the Flag, Kick the Cone and the always popular, Red Rover!

Art: We let kids' imaginations run wild! Campers learn to draw, paint, sculpt—but mainly, they learn to have fun with art!

Flex: This activity sometimes has campers working together as they learn how to problem-solve as a team, sometimes they will be doing individual activities such as making friendship bracelets and sometimes they will get a voice in what they’d like to do that period.  This is why it’s called “Flex”! It’s flexible in terms of what they do and how they choose to do it!

A FEW NEW ACTIVITIES ARE COMING FOR 2024!!! STAY TUNED!

Special Events for Summer 2024

Because we have campers who only spend a portion of their summer with us, we host an event/theme each week so that each week is special!

From water experiments to a talent show to our annual camp-in (for older campers), some of the special events are Solebury School Day Camp traditions, others will be new to our veteran campers.

Week 1: June 24-28, 2024
Wet and Wacky Week

“Wet and Wacky” certainly sums up Week One at Solebury Day Camp. Water balloon fights, special pool games, sprinklers throughout campus and even a super wacky FOAM PARTY make this one of campers' favorite weeks! Watch out for the Directors who may get you with a super soaker!

Week 2: July 3-7, 2023 (no camp 4th of July)
HOLIDAYS Week

Join us as we begin what we hope will become another favorite camp tradition! This week we will celebrate a year's worth of holidays in just 4 days since we lose a day to the 4th of July. Campers can look forward to a Halloween Costume Parade and trick or treating, a Thanksgiving lunchtime banquet, a Winter Wonderland celebrating December holidays, Valentines and more!

Week 3: July 8-12, 2024
Special Visitors Week

This week we will have a few very special visitors to lead us in some super fun activities! In previous years this has included Stuart the Magician (a camp favorite), Housel Fun and Fitness and The Franklin Institute. This year's special visitors are still TBD but are guaranteed to bring a whole bunch of fun with them!

Week 4: July 15-19, 2024
Talent Show Week

This event is one of the highlights of the Summer! Those who wish can showcase their talents for the rest of the camp. Younger campers usually perform together as a group with their counselors. Participation is encouraged for all but even spectators enjoy this awesome event!!

Week 5: July 22-26, 2024
Camp In Week (7/26)

On Friday of this week, campers in Group 4 and up are invited to stay once the traditional camp day ends for our Annual Camp-In! Activities include scavenger hunts, free swim, campfires, smores, dance parties and outdoor movies. Pick up is at 9:30.  For younger campers this week we make sure to have some special outdoor activities including smores and more "camping" age-appropriate fun!

Week 6: July 29-August 2, 2024
Spirit Week

A variety of special days including group matching day and sports jersey day that culminates with our 2-day, all-camp Olympics. We'll end the season with a special gathering of campers where we express our gratitude for another summer together, watch a slideshow of our great memories and say our goodbyes :(

Our Staff

Our staff includes teachers, counselors, and a camp nurse. The staff is handpicked by the Camp Co-Directors Julie Laing and Leila Crooks, who have been with Solebury School Day Camp for a combined 21 years. We select counselors who share our love of children and who are dedicated to providing them with a fun and educational summer. Most of our staff have been with the camp since they were campers!

Extra Services for Today's Busy Families

To make our parents' summers as enjoyable and stress-free as your children's...

Food is included. We provide the campers with a hot and cold lunch (several choices) and two snacks every day. We are a peanut-free camp . We offer a range of options for children including vegetarian and non-vegetarian entrees, an extensive salad and sandwich bar, sunflower butter and jelly sandwiches (the campers who like PB&J love it), and a variety of fresh fruit. Morning fruit-based snack and afternoon ice cream/popsicles provided!

Aftercare is an option. We offer afternoon care until 5:30 p.m. for an additional $30 per day or $125 per child per week. You can pay for this service up front if you know how often you will be using it, or you may use it on an as-needed basis and pay throughout the summer.

A Flexible Enrollment Policy. We allow families to enroll from just one week through six weeks of camp. We have a core group of campers (80 or so) who are here for all six weeks, and we have lots of families who include us as a portion of their summer plans.

The registration fee includes all activities and trips, insurance, materials, lunch and snacks, and a T-shirt for each child. A deposit of $100 per week for each camper is due with registration. All camp payments are due May 1, 2023. Any camper that is not paid in full forfeits their deposit and will lose their spot in camp.

REFUND POLICY

  • Full registration refunds minus $100 deposit will be granted up to May 1
  • Withdrawal from camp between May 2-May 15: 75% fee returned
  • Withdrawal from camp between May 15-June 15: 50% fee returned
  • Withdrawal from camp after June 15: no refund
